2017 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid Review

Introduced in 2016, the Toyota RAV4 Hybrid was one of the very first hybrid crossover vehicles on the market. Offering a significantly higher fuel economy than typical gas-powered cars, hybrids are becoming increasingly popular.

If you're interested in a compact SUV with plenty of cargo space, an elegant interior design, and unparalleled fuel economy, the 2017 RAV4 Hybrid may be the right car for your life.

Toyota Safety Sense™ P (TSS-P)

Toyota's newest suite of integrated safety systems is standard on the RAV4 Hybrid, keeping you and your passengers more safe, comfortable, and focused on the road ahead.

  • Lane Departure Alert signals you when you begin to drift out of your lane. When used in conjunction with Steering Assist, the system can provide gentle yet corrective steering when needed in order to keep your RAV4 on course.
  • The RAV4's Dynamic Radar Cruise Control is just like your typical cruise control, but smarter. Forward-sensing radar technology allows the car to automatically adjust speed to maintain a safe following distance.
  • The Pedestrian Detection feature uses radar with a camera capable of shape recognition to alert the driver of pedestrians near the vehicle. The Pre-Collision System can also provide automatic braking for sudden stops.
  • Finally, the 2017 RAV4 Hybrid has the capability to detect oncoming cars up to 2,000 feet away and automatically turn high beams on and off.

2017 RAV4 Hybrid: Power & Efficiency

You simply can't get the fuel economy of a hybrid with any gas-powered vehicle, and the RAV4 Hybrid is no exception. With an EPA-estimated 34/30 city/highway MPG, the RAV4 will certainly save you some cash at the pump-even more than its competitors in the hybrid category.

A 2.5L engine and two electric motors unite to produce 194 horsepower, making the Toyota RAV4 Hybrid a peppy little car to drive. The vehicle's ride competes with that of sportier compact SUVs.

The RAV4 also comes with standard all-wheel-drive, which is extremely rare for the compact SUV class, making it more reliable on icy winter roads near South Brunswick, Freehold, and Lawrence.

Toyota RAV4 Cargo Features

With folding back seats, the 2017 RAV4 Hybrid can supply up to 70.6 cubic feet of cargo space for carting around picnic supplies, exercise gear, sports equipment, or whatever else you may need.

The cargo net with flexible design allows for different configurations for stowing whatever you may need to bring with you on your adventure.

A hands-free, foot-activated power liftgate is available, making it easy to simply wave your foot under the rear bumper to open the liftgate. With this convenient feature, you can load all of your groceries without dropping anything.
