Regarding the gas-powered version, the new Toyota Corolla gets a new 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 169 horsepower and 151 pound-feet of torque and increasing fuel economy to 41 miles per gallon on the highway. Since the Corolla has rear-link suspension, the ride is smooth and levels out the bumps.
The transmission is continuously variable, and both of the gasoline-only versions of the Corolla are front-wheel drive models. The dynamic-shift CVT provides the acceleration response of shifting manually into first gear. Paddle shifters are also an available feature. There are two drive modes available. Normal mode finds a balance between performance and gas savings. Eco mode saves you even more at the pump.
There is an eight-inch touchscreen with available navigation services. You also get a three-month subscription to SiriusXM radio. A remote starting application is available for your cell phone. Available is push-button starting and standard are four USB-C ports.
For the exterior, Toyota redesigned the front and rear fascias. The front rounds nicely to a large, blacked out grille. This gives the Corolla its racy good looks. It is still low slung as well and dazzles with its 18-inch alloy wheels. A spoiler and rocker panels are available as well.
The Toyota Corolla five-passenger interior is roomy and comfortable, offering SofTex-trimmed heated seating on higher trims and a power tilt/slide moonroof as part of an option package.
The new Toyota Corolla sedan offers four trims: LE, XLE, SE, and XSE. More hybrid trim models are on the way during the model year.
