2018 Toyota Rav4 vs. Nissan Rogue

The crossover SUV sector gets more and more competitive with each passing year. It seems every auto manufacturer is scrambling to put out the very best sport utility vehicle to cover all the needs of every driver out there. It creates an atmosphere that's great for car buyers and SUV enthusiasts, as it keeps costs down while providing the best combination of features, reliability and performance.

Two of the leading vehicles in the compact crossover SUV market are the Toyota Rav4 and the Nissan Rogue. Drivers all over South Brunswick, Freehold and Lawrence debate which of these is the best for your daily requirements. Read and explore all of the similarities and differences between the 2018 Toyota Rav4 and the Nissan Rogue, and discover which is best for your SUV needs.

2018 Toyota Rav4 vs. Nissan Rogue

This model year brings a few changes for the 2018 Toyota Rav4. Specifically, it gets a brand-new special edition model which is called the Adventure. This model gives you a special tow prep package, greater ground clearance, 18-inch wheels, special body guards, black bezels around the headlights and fog lights. In the cargo area you get all-weather floor mats, leather-wrapped shift knob and special interior trim.

General new features for the 2018 year include heated steering wheel, and the option for heated and power adjust front seats on lower trim levels. The Rogue, on the other hand, is a straight carryover from 2017. There are few changes in the offing, but we do expect to see revised exterior styling, and it's expected to keep the standard 17-inch wheels, rearview camera, Bluetooth, 5-inch display screen and four-speaker audio.

Performance and Efficiency

When it comes to overall performance and fuel efficiency, the Rav4 has the Rogue beat overall, though the Rogue does slightly edge out the Rav4 on the highway, delivering an EPA-estimated 33 mpg to the Rav4's 31 mpg. However, when it comes to raw horsepower, the Toyota delivers 176 horsepower, which outclasses the Rogue's base engine.

Standard and Available Features

When the Rav4 goes up against the rogue in terms of features, it also comes out on top. The Toyota Safety Sense package, for example, is one of the best safety features packages on the market today, and delivers dynamic radar cruise control, frontal crash warning with pedestrian detection and automatic braking, automatic high beams, LED headlights, heated front seats, and a hybrid model that delivers superior performance.

In terms of reliability, the Toyota also wins out. In fact, Toyota has built a reputation around reliability, and over 90 percent of Rav4 vehicles purchased within the past decade are still being driven today, a very impressive figure and one that the Rogue, despite Nissan's reputation for quality, can't match.
