The 2016 Toyota Tacoma and the 2016 Chevy Colorado are both rugged mid-size trucks with a lot to offer. Which one is right for you? If you're in need of a truck to drive around South Brunswick Township, Plainsboro Township or New Brunswick, it's important to do your research and find one that fulfills all of your needs.

That's why Dayton Toyota has created this detailed vehicle comparison that reviews both the 2016 Tacoma and 2016 Colorado.

The 2016 Toyota Tacoma has been fully redesigned for this year, and provides a choice between inline-4 and an all-new V-6 engine. The base Tacoma has a 2.7-liter inline-4 that produces 159 horsepower and the new 3.5-liter V-6 engine creates 278 horsepower. The V-6 models allow you to choose between a 6-speed manual and a new 6-speed automatic transmission. The 2016 Tacoma handles well, drives comfortably and upshifts and downshifts nicely.

The 2016 Chevy Colorado gives you several engine options. First is the base 2.5 liter inline-4 that is rated at 200 horsepower, with the option of a manual or automatic 6 speed. Next is the 3.6-liter V-6 that produces 305 horsepower; or, choose the 2.8-liter turbodiesel inline-4 with 181 horsepower.

Exterior and Interior

The styling of the Tacoma has not been altered too much over the years but the 2016 model has been slightly lifted, which gives it a bolder appearance overall. The front end showcases a hex grille and sharp headlights. It has a classic pick-up truck look but the traditional layout of the cabin is enhanced by refreshing details when it comes to the surfaces and textures of the interior.

The 2016 Chevy Colorado has a traditional truck shape with a slim grille, a soft silhouette and boxy fenders. Within the cabin, the Colorado offers more in terms of a sedan with its seats and trim.

The 2016 Toyota Tacoma is available in five levels: SR, SR5, TRD Sport, TRD Off-Road and Limited. Each level offers a different set of trim and appearances, but the base level doesn't skimp on the features, including sliding rear glass, air conditioning, adjustable steering wheel, power windows and more. All trim levels even get the Entune Audio multimedia systems with an App Suite that includes Slack Radio, Bing, iHeartRadio and Pandora.

The 2016 Colorado comes in three levels: WT, LT and Z71. The basic is the WT which includes vinyl seats, a rearview camera, locking tailgate, air conditioning and more. The LT and Z71 add features such as remote start, sliding rear window, heated front seats and steering-wheel audio controls.

Toyota has made major improvements when it comes to the 2016 Tacoma, with many safety features so that you're protected when driving around South Brunswick Township, Plainsboro Township or New Brunswick. All models include four-wheel anti-lock brakes with brake assist and electronic brake force distribution, traction and stability control and eight standard airbags.

Standard safety equipment includes six standard airbags, oversized side mirrors, a rearview camera and standard stability-control system.

The 2016 Toyota Tacoma seems to win over the 2016 Colorado, especially when considering its eight airbags compared to the Colorado's six. Head over to Dayton Toyota today to see for yourself or schedule a test drive online today!
