Last month, we mentioned that Toyota did really well on the J.D. Power and Associates Initial Quality Study this year. But, just how well did they do? You'll be happy (but not surprised) to hear that Toyota customers only reported 88 problems per 100 vehicles, well above the industry average of 102 per 100 vehicles. But that's not all.
Of the top ten scoring automakers (those with the least number of reported problems), Toyota was only one of two mass-market brands - all of the others were luxury brands. Both mass-market brands in the top ten are Japanese and the top scoring brand in 2012 is Lexus, Toyota's luxury arm.
But then, J.D. Power and Associates broke it down by make and model, naming the top two or three models in each major category. How many spots do you think Toyota took? One? Maybe two? How about eight - not counting the seven Lexus and Scion models that earned top scores, as well.
Specifically, the Toyota Yaris is the best sub-compact car, the Corolla and Prius are the top two compact cars, and the Avalon is one of the top-ranked large cars. As for utility vehicles, the RAV4 and FJ Cruiser snagged two spots in the compact crossover/CUV segment, the Toyota Prius v is one of the best compact multipurpose vehicles, and the Highlander tied as one of the best midsize crossovers.
How does Toyota feel about this recognition? Ray Tanguay, Senior VP and Chief Quality Officer at Toyota North America explains, "We are very pleased with this year's Initial Quality Study honors. These accolades echo our enduring commitment to quality, value, and customer satisfaction."1
What does this all mean for you? Well, it means that aside from your regular service appointment, you won't be making frequent stops in to see the maintenance team here at Dayton Toyota. Not that we don't love it when Brunswick drivers drop in with their cars for an oil change or tire rotation - it's just that you won't have to come in to see us otherwise!
Sounds pretty good, don't you think? If you're ready to learn more about the new Toyota models that impressed the folks over at J.D. Power and Associates, simply stop by and see the team here at 2291 US Route 130 S. Brunswick, NJ 08810.
