Here at Dayton Toyota, our number one goal is to help you find a dependable car that will last you many years and many many miles. It doesn't matter to us which shape you which your vehicle to take - from a fun compact car like a new Toyota Camry to a certified-used vehicle with some miles on the odometer. Or maybe your ideal family/errand/weekend car is a hybrid? Well, if you know anything about Toyota, you know you'll find plenty of those in our showroom.

Of course, a hybrid isn't just any old car. Thanks to the battery/motor/gasoline engine setup, it's easy on the environment and boasts stellar fuel economy numbers. Like the original Prius, rated at 51 miles to the gallon. Then again, thanks to the battery/motor/gasoline engine combination, service is a bit of a different ball game, too. But that's okay, the Dayton Toyota team is here to help.

Some of the major questions we get are about the battery itself - how long will it last? What are the terms of the warranty? What happens if the battery dies? Well we have some answers for you.

First: Toyota claims that the battery is good until at least 180,000 miles, while there are reports of batteries last way beyond the 200,000-mile mark. And, many of the engineers at Toyota say that they've designed the battery to be a "life-of-the-vehicle" component.

As far as the warranty is concerned, Toyota covers their battery packs with an 8-year/100,000-mile warranty in most states; 10-years/150,000-miles in California. That means, if you own a second or third-generation Prius, if you ever have doubts about the health of the battery, you can simply stop into see us, and we'll check it/replace it at no cost to you.

And lastly - and this is a rare occurrence - what do you do if your battery pack is no longer covered by the warranty and you need a replacement? Toyota has was they call a "core credit," in which the credit from recycling the old battery goes towards the cost of the new battery, which can cut the up-front price by a third. A second generation Prius (2004-2008) will cost about $2,299 to replace.

We hopes that clears up a few questions for you, but in case you have others, we invite you to contact us via our website at your convenience or stop by and see us at 2291 US Route 130 S Brunswick, NJ 08810.
