Perhaps when the folks at Carfax created the Vehicle History Report in 1986 they didn't know it would be an immediate sensation, but it certainly was- and continues to be. Carfax reports are the most trusted and respected for the auto market today, and Toyota has been partnering with the company since 2005 to verify used Toyota and Certified Pre-Owned Toyota vehicles. Recently, Toyota decided to further extend its partnership with Carfax, which provides free reports to drivers interested in purchasing used or Certified-Pre Owned Toyota vehicles, as well as free reports for Scion brand used vehicles.
Last year, Toyota sold a record number of Certified used vehicles, beating its previous record with sales of over 331,000 vehicles. Of course, the Carfax partnership was a huge part of this success, as it allows drivers to feel comfortable in some of the most reliable used vehicles on the road. As Michael Ross, GM of a Toyota dealership in Pennsylvania explains, "Carfax is the name our customers trust for vehicle history information. . . Carfax Vehicle History Reports are also the source that Toyota trusts for the Toyota Certified Used Vehicle program. That trust is why we use Carfax for our entire used vehicle operations."1
