Last year, Toyota wowed the world with its "100 Cars for Good" program. The initiative is unlike anything that Dayton Toyota has seen before. Over the course of 100 days, Toyota managed to give away a new Toyota to 100 different nonprofit groups in the United States. Each group receiving a new vehicles had previously submitted an application, explaining how a new vehicle could help their cause and further engage with their community.
It goes without saying that the project was a big hit with nonprofits, local communities, and everyday Toyota fans alike. As such, the Japanese automaker is looking to make a big impact, once again, with the return of the Toyota "100 Cars for Good" campaign in 2012.
"At Toyota, we appreciate what a big difference a new car can make for organizations working to improve lives and strengthen communities across the country, and we are thrilled to have this opportunity to lend a hand," explains Michael Rouse, Vice President of Toyota . "Over the last 20 years, Toyota has contributed more than half a billion dollars to nonprofits throughout the U.S. 100 Cars for Good allows us to build on that commitment in important, new ways by making the public an integral part of these efforts and harnessing the power of social media to expand awareness and galvanize support for organizations that are having such a tremendous impact in neighborhoods nationwide."1
What does social media have to do with the "100 Cars for Good" initiative? Toyota invited fans to vote on which nonprofit they feel would benefit from the utility of a new vehicle last year by visiting their Facebook page. And from the sounds of it, the company is planning to do the same thing again this year.
Whether you're interested in entering a local 501(c)(3) nonprofit or simply want to cast your vote on Facebook, Dayton Toyota asks that you stay tuned. There's sure to be more news concerning this exciting venture to come.
