Toyota might not have the longest history in the auto market, but it can boast one of the most prolific. This year, Toyota will produce its 25 Millionth vehicle. This news comes in the wake of last year's tsunami and earthquake in Japan and flooding in Thailand. Shigeki Terashi, President and COO of TEMA explains the impact of these disasters, stating, "Despite a challenging year due to the earthquake and tsunami in Japan that caused limited parts availability, Toyota's team members and supplying partners were able to ramp up production ahead of schedule . . . This kind of commitment and customer-first spirit will set the stage for growth over the course of the year."1
Toyota managed to achieve
impressive expansions throughout the United States despite these setbacks,
including:
-An
expansion of West Virginia's Toyota Motor Manufacturing plant, increasing
six-speed automatic transmission production
-An
expansion of Alabama's Toyota Motor Manufacturing, increasing four-cylinder
engine production and creating 240 new jobs
For 2012, in addition to its 25 Millionth vehicle, Toyota will also begin production of its new Toyota EV RAV4 at the company's plant in Woodstock, Ontario, Canada.
