From 2008 to 2010, Toyota remained the largest automaker in the world, outselling competitors year-after-year. 2011 was an entirely different story, as you know, when a devastating earthquake and tsunami tore through Japan, upsetting everything in its path - including production of some of the world's favorite vehicles. But, Dayton Toyota is proud to say that the automaker has put all of this behind them, and have yet again begun to outsell American, German, and other Japan-based automakers.

That's right, sales of Toyota-branded cars, including luxury arm, Lexus, rose 18 percent to a total of 2.49 million units globally during the first three months of the year. To put this number in perspective: GM sold 2.28 million, and VW sold 2.16 million models around the world in the first quarter of 2012.

How are they doing this? Well it certainly helps to have great models like the 51-mpg Toyota Prius. On top of which, all of the models in the new Toyota family are available with feature-packed, top-of-the-line trim packages and amenities.

What does Toyota think about their recent sales gains? Jim Wiseman, Toyota's North American VP of External Affairs says, "Although being no. 1 is not the main goal for us, it's nice to see because hopefully it shows we're on the right track. With customers reacting to positively to all of the new and updated products we're introducing this year, we're optimistic the good momentum will continue."1

By year's end, Toyota is looking to sell close to nine million vehicles.

We don't think they'll have any problem with that if they continue on the track they're on! Be sure to stay tuned with Dayton Toyota, 2291 US Route 130 S Brunswick, NJ 08810 for more Toyota news and updates!
