Since the next-generation Toyota Corolla's debut at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show at the beginning of the year, we've been itching for more details on the 2014 model year of one of America's favorite sedans. Fortunately, some recent leaks have granted us peace of mind until the auto brand makes some official announcements regarding the new Toyota.
At the Detroit Auto Show, the automaker unveiled the Furia concept, which the next Corolla's design and styling is based off of. However, the Furia boasted some pretty aggressive and extremely futuristic features, particularly its very vibrant gold paintjob. Those of you who became apprehensive of the upcoming model have no need to worry, as the Toyota sedan will only be inspired by the Furia concept, and will focus on more everyday-appropriate features that are actually similar to the Camry's.
Sources say the 2014 Corolla will still maintain its 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine, which produces 132 horsepower and 128 pounds-feet of torque in the current model year, like the one available here at Dayton Toyota. However, reports say engine output as well as fuel economy should improve slightly with the next-gen vehicle. It will be available in four trim levels, base, LE, S, and Eco, with the base boasting a four-speed automatic option. The new Toyota will also feature the auto brand's signature Valvematic system and some interior improvements like the option of Softex leather, push-button start, and a baked-in navigation system.
More details on the 2014 Corolla will be become available as we approach its official release date. However, we have just the thing to hold you over until Toyota gives us the scoop-- a test drive of the current Corolla, available at our South Brunswick, NJ dealership. Unlike the next-gen model, our Corolla has plenty of awards under its belt and is ready to roll today. Give us a call at (866) 918-2725 to schedule your test spin.
