The leaves are turning and the night air is getting brisk,
which means that South Brunswick hayrides are about to crop up throughout the
region. Along with a fun, bouncy ride on the hay bales, families will also be
able to enjoy autumnal entertainment such as afternoon adventures in corn mazes
and pumpkin picking at local farms. Here's a look at some of the places where
you can access fall fun around South Brunswick.
Habiak Farms, which is located at 315 Deans Rhode Hall Road in South Brunswick,
offers a variety of harvest-time activities. Families can pick their own
pumpkins and other gourds, and if you want to get a head start on the holiday
season, you can also scope out a possible Christmas tree for later cutting.

For additional fall fun, travel a bit further to Giamarese Farm in East Brunswick. Located at 155 Fresh Pond Road, the farm offers pick-your-own apples and pumpkins. Fall Harvest Weekends are offered from late September through October and include the opportunity to participate in a corn maze, pony rides, and South Brunswick hayrides. You can also get up close and personal with farm animals and appreciate fall decorations throughout the property. To get to the Giamarese Farm, take exit 9 off the NJ Turnpike and make a left on route 18. Take a right on Tices Lane, then continue onto Washington Street. Turn left at Main and right on Kulthau Avenue. Follow the fork right onto Fresh Ponds Road. The farm will be on the right once you've traveled another mile and a half.
Another Middlesex County farm offering South Brunswick hayrides is Von Thun's Country Farm Market, which is located at 519 Ridge Road in Monmouth Junction. Starting in late September, the farm offers a variety of autumn activities on the weekends, including pick-your-own pumpkins and apples, farm tours, a corn maze, and a farmer's market. On October 12 and 13, the farm will host the 27th annual Fall Festival, which includes special activities such as a Moonlit Hay Ride and Corn Maze. Food vendors and the farmer's market offer plenty of fresh, healthy options for lunch, so you can work up an appetite in the brisk fall air. The farm is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and the corn maze entrance closes at 5 p.m. on weekends. To get to the farm from South Brunswick Township, travel southeast on Ridge Road. You'll find the farm less than a mile outside the center of the town.
It won't be long before fall leaves make way for winter snow. Get your autumn adventure in one weekend in September or October!
