The air is chilly, the leaves are changing color and fall is in the air. With Halloween approaching, finding fun at South Brunswick’s haunted attractions is on everyone's mind. Here are some choices that include activities for all ages and levels of courage.

C. Casola Farms Haunted Hayride of Terror, 131 Route 79 South, Marlboro  
With four terrifying attractions including the Haunted Wooded Trail, The Hayride of Terror, The 3-D Haunted Barn and the all new Living Maze, there is something for everyone here. Refreshments, including hot cider, hot chocolate, fresh pies and cookies, candy and more can also be found along with a seasonal collection of novelty items, decorations, pumpkins, gourds and Indian corn.

Haunted House in the Hollow, 881 Highland Road, Newtown.
Seventeen rooms of this  house are open on the main floor, and a cemetery and crypt are also open. Other attractions include a haunted hayride, the field of fright, bonfires and live bands. Tickets for all available attractions are $30, and individual attractions can be purchased separately.

Brite Nites at the Wagner Farm Arboretum, 197 Mountain Ave, Warren.
For those that prefer their Halloween fun a little more family friendly, the Wagner Farm Arboretum showcases over 1500 carved pumpkins that display scenery, cartoon characters, gardens, familiar landscapes, and much more. Dancers, music, and treats are also available. Tickets are $10 each, $7 for children and seniors, and kids under 3 are free.

Shady Brook Farm, 931 Stony Hill Road, Yardley.
One of the busiest South Brunswick haunted attractions; Shady Brook Farm offers two separate activities, Horrorfest and the kid-friendly Pumpkinfest.


  • Pumpkinfest. Open daily from September 28 until October 31, Pumpkinfest is a family friendly event that includes wagon rides, pumpkin picking, inflatable amusements, play areas, mazes, and more. Admission is $15. For an additional fee, additional activities including pony rides, face painting and monster truck rides are also available.
  • Horrorfest. For those that are a little braver at heart, Horrorfest features four terrifying attractions including the Hayride of Horror, Barn of Horror, 3D Alien Encounter and Carnage. Open weekends from September 28 through November 2, tickets start at $20 for one attraction.

Frightfest at Schaefers Farm, 1051 Flemington-Whitehouse Road, Flemington.
With over 200 acres of fun, the 45 minute tour begins with the Hair Raising Hayride which delivers its riders in the middle of the Trail of Terror. The only way back to safety is through the Massacre Maize and the Carnival of Chaos. Open weekends from September 28 through November 2, tickets are $25 and include all activities.

Corner of Chaos, 299 Princeton-Hightstown Road, East Windsor.
Four attractions are available including the Wicked Wagonride, Wooded Wasteland, Barbaric Barnyard and the Nightmare Machine. All attractions are recommended for ages 10 and up and tickets are $13 per attraction or $40 for all four. Open weekends from September 27 through November 2.
