One of the most exciting ways to spend autumn evenings is to go visit Dayton haunted houses and other exciting attractions in the area. Haunted houses and other Halloween attractions in Middlesex County offer entertainment ranging from educational to appropriate for small children. Many of the activities double as fundraisers, so your money goes to support local charities.
Of course, many people just don't feel that the autumn season is complete without a good scare! With Halloween fast approaching, check out the fantastic options for costumed photo opportunities and plenty of thrills and chills that are being offered this year.
If your family includes children, The Haunted Woods of Oldbridge is a lot of fun. This event is run every weekend in October by the Boy Scouts from Scout Pack 67. The boys decorate the haunted woods with ghastly sounds, actors in scary costumes, elaborate lighting and unexpected props. The Haunted Woods can be found at 75 Springhill Rd in Oldbridge. They are open for viewing the weekends of October 18 and 25 from 7PM to 10PM on Fridays and Saturdays, and 7PM to 9:30PM on Sundays. Additionally, children under 8 are invited to explore from 3:30PM to 6PM before the actors arrive.
The volunteers at The Haunted Woods of Oldbridge enter the Toms River Halloween parade every year. This is the second largest Halloween parade in the county and is guaranteed to be lots of fun. They have already taken home a first and second prize trophy, so come along and see how they do!
This attraction is a not-for-profit event that benefits the Oldbridge food bank. Their motto is “Scaring for Sharing”. Guests are asked to bring donations of nonperishable food to share with those in need.
Cub Scout Pack 67 is hosting a bake sale with hot chocolate, mulled cider and delicious homemade treats for sale. Proceeds from this bake sale benefit Pack 67. Again this year, the Veterans are going to be collecting tabs from soda cans to help sponsor children's chemotherapy treatments. If you drink cans of soda, consider bringing the tabs along to contribute to their cause.
If you're considering moving on to scarier Dayton haunted houses, Revenge of The Asylum looks like it might fit your bill. This Haunted House is located at the Middlesex County Fairgrounds and will be open every Friday and Saturday night in October. This exciting event is designed, built and operated by the Middlesex 4H Teen Council.
Prepare yourself for a night of alarming sights and sounds! The teens take pride in using their somewhat limited budget and creating a truly frightening experience for their guests.
Guests are encouraged to wear clothing appropriate for walking around outdoors with potentially wet grass and leaves on the ground. In case of rain, the attraction may close. So, if there is any question of inclement weather, please call first!
The 4H group uses the funds from this attraction to pay for holiday gifts to distribute to the needy, so volunteering to pay a little more than the very reasonable $4 entrance fee would be appreciated. This asylum adventure is at 645 Cranbury Road, East Brunswick. They are open every Friday and Saturday in October from 7PM to 11PM.
Nowadays, it's possible to find Halloween celebrations that are anywhere from playful and fun to terrifying. Look around at the wide selection of Dayton haunted houses and other area attractions and you are sure to find the perfect activity for you!
