It's that time of year again. The new model for Toyota has broken through the ho-hum designs of years gone by. Finally - rumors are flying about Toyota having finally taken a few significant design risks.

  • Toyota drops its conservative comfort-zone and redesigns the 2014 Toyota Corolla.
  • The Corolla has remained one of the most popular Toyota products for more than four decades. It has a new "chiseled" look with current LED headlights.
  • By this fall the 2014 Toyota Corolla will be on sale. Pricing will be announced a bit closer to the launching date.

It isn't every day we get to enjoy the experience of seeing a whole new redesign to a model of car we have known for decades.

This year's redesigned 2014 Toyota Corolla offers a chiseled effect to its new look. Sporting standard LED headlights, this years offering has underscored Toyota's willingness to take new design risks. Perhaps because this mainstay product owns such a stable, loyal client base.

Big Design Changes Means Product Stability and Design Confidence
Toyota stated its hope to make "a much stronger design statement" with the new 2014 Corolla. The new version seems to be reminding Toyota enthusiasts of the Toyota Furia. This Corolla was debuted last January at the Detroit Auto Show. The 2014 Corolla is also rumored to be joining the 40-mpg club.

The 2014 Corolla LE Eco models are targeted for over 40 mpg on highways. This new model of Corolla LE Eco - adds under body covers, low-rolling resistance tires, a color-keyed rear spoiler and 15-inch wheels.

With a more efficient 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine - it also hosts a continuously variable transmission. The base-model has a carryover of 132-horsepower, four-cylinder 1.8 liter engine. It has an automatic four-speed transmission with the option of a six-speed manual.

Toyota Gives Up The Past
The 2014 Toyota Corolla is a most popular product, and will be available once it is released at the Dayton Toyota in South Brunswick, NJ. Because of this pronounced popularity, it seems Toyota was a bit reluctant to tinker with its formula. It's understandable when we realize Toyota was watching when Honda had disappointing results with the re-design of their 2012 Civic. Chevrolet had a similar experience with their new Malibu.

High-Technology Continues its Deep-Integration Into New Models
Every new model today seems to be earning the standard equipment of eight airbags, and a Bluetooth® hand-free phone.  There will also be audio-streaming connectivity.

The 2014 Corolla will be available in four different trim levels (L, LE, LE Eco, and S) all levels offer wide-ranges of popular features helping distinguish each trim level from another.

The 2014 equipment available in new 2014 Toyota Corolla's include:

  • Audio Touchscreens
  • Head units for accessing audible Apps
  • Push-button, Smart Key starter
  • Powered Moon-roof
  • Rear View Back-up Monitor
  • Seats that Feature SofTex™

According to Toyota, the car has been knighted as the "best-selling car nameplate on the planet." This is because there have already been nearly 40 million units sold.

"Corolla is our #2 selling model in the U.S., behind Camry. The best-selling vehicle globally," said Greg Thome, a Toyota Motor Sales USA spokesman.

The Corolla faces increasingly stiff competition from compact cars with more design-flair.

According to Toyota: "The 11th generation Corolla makes a much stronger design statement, with more compelling exterior and interior executions that challenge the preconceptions about Corolla."

The 2014 Corolla cruises along on a longer wheelbase than before. It has been stretched nearly 4 inches if you compare it to the outgoing model.

Finally:
Back-seat passengers enjoy more legroom thanks to the redesign - and the cabin has more upscale materials. This includes piano-black gloss trim and those trendy metallic-touches.
