The Toyota Camry remains a popular car, with the 2014 model year ranked fifth out of 22 mid-sized cars and the hybrid model ranked third overall when compared to other hybrids. While considered a no-frills sedan, the Toyota Camry remains a good representative of performance, reliability, and comfort.
General Overview
Just as with previous models,
the 2014 Toyota Camry is a four-door sedan with the ability to seat five.
While considered a practical car rather than a sports sedan, it is often
described in reviews as “peppy” with good handling. Depending on the trim
you choose, the Camry comes with a standard 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine or a
3.5-liter V6. All models have a six-speed automatic transition.
The fuel economy of the gasoline models is 25/36 miles per gallon city/highway for the 4-cylinder engine and 43/39 miles per gallon city/highway for the hybrid models. The V6 offers 21/31 miles per gallon city/highway.
Toyota backs the Camry with its 3-year/36,000-mile new car warranty and a 5-year/60,000-mile powertrain warranty.
Models and Trims
The 2014 Toyota Camry offers five trims: L, LE, SE, SE Sport, and XLE. The 3.5-liter V6 is offered on the SE and XLE trims. The hybrid trims are Hybrid LE and Hybrid XLE.
Basic models include the L and LE with the most features offered on SE and XLE models. The primary difference between the L and LE is that the LE offers remote keyless entry. SE models include sporty features like paddle shifters, sport suspension, and 17-inch alloy wheels. The XLE model is the highest end trim that offers the most standard features and a wider range of options.
Features and Options
Regarding safety, each Toyota Camry is equipped with 10 standard airbags and daytime running lights. Toyota’s Star Safety System is standard with every Toyota and includes stability control, traction control, anti-lock brakes, electronic brake-force distribution (EBD), brake assist, and Smart Stop Technology. Special seat design lessens the chance of whiplash injury, and the Safety Connect option keeps roadside and emergency assistance in easy reach. Safety options available in the XLE model include blind spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert (rearview camera).
Gasoline models LE and higher offer remote keyless entry, while the hybrid models offer push-button start and the Smart Key System. A 6.1-inch touch screen display, 6-speaker stereo, auxiliary audio jack, USB port, and Bluetooth capabilities are standard with every Camry. Available optional features, depending on trim, include navigation, dual-zone climate control, and a 10-speaker system.
Hybrid models include the same standard features but also include wheel-mounted audio controls and dual-zone climate control as standard features. Optional features are available for the Hybrid XLE and are the same as listed above for the gasoline SE and XLE models.
