The Story Behind the Festival
This annual festival showcases performing artists and supports the local music scene, featuring local as well as nationally and internationally renowned performers. The event takes place at restaurants throughout New Brunswick, and venues have also expanded to include Highland Park and Somerset.
This event was incorporated into a New Brunswick Cultural Center/Arts New Brunswick's annual Hub City Sounds Series. Proceeds of the Hub City Music Festival directly benefits Elijah's Promise and the people they serve.
Elijah's Promise has set out to alleviate hunger since 1989 for the members located near South Brunswick Township, Plainsboro Township and New Brunswick. They operate a community soup kitchen, culinary arts school, catering business and pay-as-you-can café, and they even connect low-income individuals and families with health care services. With a strong network of volunteers, donors and partners, Elijah's Promise serves more than 100,000 meals per years.
Getting Around the Hub City Music Festival
The Festival begins Thursday, April 14th at 8pm at Esquina Latina, and the musical guests will be Swing Sabroso. Kick off this event with some guacamole, tapas and Salsa Dura style music.
Then, start the weekend at 8pm on Friday, April 15th at Tumulty's Pub and enjoy the musical stylings of BBQ Bob and the Spareribs, Ms. Laurie Ann and the SaddleTones, and Old Lady and The Brummy Brothers.
Saturday night begins at 4pm on The Streets of Hub City, followed by The Court Tavern at 7:30 pm.
Then, finish off your lazy Sunday by heading to Pino's Highland Park at 6pm for five short musicals that have been written and rehearsed in 48 hours.
Take a break from the music until Thursday, April 21st at 8pm at Pino's Highland Park to hear Experiment 34, Mike Montrey Band, American Beauty and Andy B.AND SoulFolk.
Welcome the weekend Friday, April 22nd at 10pm at The Old Bay with Good Foot and Hey Bulldog, then do it all again Saturday, April 23rd at 9pm at the World of Beer with Screamin' Rebel Angels, Coach N Commando, and Crash Gordon and Debra Dynamite.
Then, wrapping up the entire festival on Sunday, April 24th at 4pm at Better World Market is the Vanessa Perea Trio.
