The #Toyota86 wasn’t engineered like any sports car. And that’s why it’s not just for any driver. Do you think the 86 is for you? pic.twitter.com/ViFSz25ECy

There's a lot of ground to cover around South Brunswick, from U.S. Route 1 and 130, to Routes 27 and 32, to the New Jersey Turnpike, and from the Monroe and Princeton areas to East Windsor, Spotswood and Hightstown. And one's hard-pressed to think of a better roadster in which to traverse it all than a 2017 Toyota 86. With standards like a rear-wheel drivetrain and 2.0-liter, 4-cylinder DOHC engine to own the road at 205 horsepower and with up to 156 lb-ft of torque, the sports car commands the road, and turning heads to boot thanks to 17-inch twisted-spoke alloy wheels, front fender-mounted vortex generators and 86 badge, a chrome-tipped dual exhaust, and a rear bumper lower diffuser that speaks to the vehicle's aerodynamism. With a swift change of gears from the wheel via paddle shifters, the 6-speed auto transmission kicks in, with Dynamic Rev Management to smooth the ride. And 6-way driver and 4-way front-passenger seats, nestled between integrated headrests and supportive knee cushions, as well as dual-zone automatic climate control keep you comfortable while you drive.
But Toyota's about to send 86 to the next level with a limited minting of 860 vehicles, to be released in late March in Halo White and exclusive Supernova Orange color options with black body stripe contrast, dubbed by the automaker's related press release the "860 Special Edition." The sports car iteration will feature among its standards a unique underbody panel to truly bring home aerodynamics as well as a rear spoiler, 17-inch alloy wheels and LED fog lights. The road warrior's 4.2-inch display will offer G-force meter, stop watch, horsepower, torque curve, engine coolant and oil temperature and mpg metrics readouts, and it'll deliver the comfort of heated seats, in black leather and orange stitching, with like visual contrast extending to 860's leather-trimmed steering wheel, shift boot and parking brake lever. Toyota's premium finishing touches include convenient Smart key with push-button start and touch-activated door unlock capability.
Is this just the beginning. We'll have to wait until the release to see for ourselves. In the meantime, stop by our 2291 US Route 130 showroom here in South Brunswick, NJ for a test drive in a brand-new 2017 Toyota 86. We're looking forward to meeting you!
