April 2017's bringing us something entirely new from Toyota. The automaker hails it as a "shift in the CUV paradigm." It's been described as a work of "stunning style, driving dynamics and versatility," curvaceous and "avant-garde," urban-styled, "bold," "outgoing," its Distinctive Diamond frame and "modern, comfortable" MeZONE cabin taking cues from sports car designs. We at Dayton Toyota know one thing: we can't wait to see the 2018 Toyota C-HR Coupe High-Rider.
The Nurburgring racing circuit was C-HR's development-and-tuning playground, and a 0.34 drag coefficient, rear quarter panel canards, front and rear spats, streamlined rear lower bumper and stabilizing fins show off its conduciveness to aerodynamism. (These, and the CUV's 60.6-inch front and rear tracks, which match the Toyota 86 sports car to a T.) 18-inch alloy wheels, comfort-customizing dual-zone climate control, bucket seating, and a crystal-clear 7-inch audio display likewise come standard, but what really looks to wow, and as the only anticipated instance thereof in the segment, is Toyota's Standard Pre-Collision System with Active Braking, called Safety Sense P™ (TSS-P), a suite of intelligent safety features.
They'll enable 2018 C-HR to detect, and alert you to, other nearby vehicles and pedestrians, automatically applying brakes as necessary, as well as help you remain in your lane during drift using small corrective steering inputs, adjust your speed to keep safe distance from other, lower-speed vehicles, and even automatically switch between high beams and low beams to illuminate the road when lighting conditions vary.
So what else is under the hood? Looks like we'll have to stand by until April, but that doesn't mean you have to forgo the Toyota experience. If you're coming round South Brunswick, stop by and see us here at 2291 US Route 130, and we'll set you up for a spin in a 2017 Toyota 86, or any other model in our lineup that speaks to you. We'll see you soon!
