We love motor shows here at Dayton Toyota. It is, after all, where all the magic happens. It's where we got our first look at the Furia Concept that would become the new Corolla, and a variety of other new Toyota models. This year, at the Frankfurt Motor Show, they're showing us another rehashed model: the Yaris Hybrid-R Concept.

Based off of the Yaris, the concept car draws much inspiration from the automaker's racing cars, in particular the TS030 hybrid racer. To wit, while it boasts a hybrid engine and the original car's "hot-hatch" demeanor, it soups it up with some impressive power numbers, too.

The underpinnings of the Hybrid-R include a 1.6-liter, four-cylinder Global Race Engine (GRE), which power the front wheels, and rear wheel drive powered by two electric motors. Wrapped together, these three power plants afford the Yaris Concept something to the tune of 400 horsepower.

Along with intelligent all-wheel drive technology, this car is certain to be quite the performer in a wide array of different driving conditions.

Although the American markets will be saying farewell to the Yaris in 2015, the car is still popular in Europe. It may also be possible its Mazda2-based successor will have some of the same technology as this Hybrid-R vehicle.

For the time being, though, the Yaris is still here, so get it while it's hot! Drop by our South Brunswick, NJ location and sign up for a test drive. You won't regret it!
